If Your Cat, Dog, Child, Grandchild, or Very Drunk Friend Accidentally Wets the Bed, Couch, or Carpet, You’ll Need This!

(A $20+ Value)

If your urine spot is fresh, blot up as much urine as you can with paper towels.

For old urine spots, you may need to use a long slim black light to find all of them. In a darkened room, the salts in the urine will glow when the black light shines on them. Black lights are available at discount stores and pet stores, for $15 to $20. In pet stores they are called stink finders.

Mix 1 cup (8oz) of Hydrogen Peroxide per 1 teaspoon of Baking Soda in a plastic cup (not metal). Stir with a plastic spoon (not metal). Spot test your carpet and upholstery in a hidden place, (back of cushion or corner of closet). Then pour the solution evenly on the whole urine spot, making sure to saturate the surface and the padding under the carpet. Keep people and pets off the treated spot until it has completely dried. (If the solution gets on and irritates skin, wash with soap and water.) Then vacuum up the Baking Soda. Discard the remaining solution as it will lose potency fairly soon.

Optionally, a small amount of liquid dish detergent can be added to reduce the mixtures surface tension and help it penetrate. Use it sparingly, if at all, as the detergent residue will attract dirt to the carpet.

If enough solution is used, your pets won’t be able to smell their scent anymore, and they won’t urinate there again. This is important when housebreaking a dog.
